G2 and Invictus Gaming formed a Dota 2 team G2.IG

With a new big collaboration, G2 Esports expanded to China and entered Dota 2 esports for the first time.

After dominating Europe when it comes to popularity, G2 Esports started to aggressively expand to the rest of the world. They first expanded into Asia last year by taking on Philippine outfit Blacklist in the Wild Rift game, but that's still a much smaller collaboration than the one with IG.

Invictus Gaming is one of the oldest Chinese esports organizations, formed in 2011, and they are already coming to their biggest trophy, The International 2 Aegis.

They went on to have several more solid results at TI, and their best recent finish was a top 4 finish at TI 2021 where they were beaten by future champion Team Spirit in the battle for top 3.

G2 has long had great support from Chinese fans in various esports, and now the Chinese will have the opportunity to cheer on G2 through local players. The team will be called G2.IG and will debut under the new name tomorrow at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, where they will compete in Group B with 9Pandas, LGD Gaming, Team Falcons, Team Liquid and Team Undying.

The IG.G2 team consists of:

Du "Monet" Peng
Cheng "NothingtoSay" Jin Xiang
Thiay "JT-" Jun Wen
Ye "BoBoKa" Zhibao
Yap "xNova" Jian Wei
