G2 Esports achieved massive success and eliminated China's runner-up Top Esports with a convincing 3-0 win at MSI 2024.
G2 continued their excellent performance at this year's MSI tournament, after tormenting the reigning world champions T1 and forcing them to play all five games, they showed an even better face in the survival match against Top Esports and recorded their first win by an LEC team in completely dominant style against LPL representatives in a match that is played on a three-game winning streak, since 2021.
They once again proved that they are great with the heroes in the current meta, and Top Esports was unable to cope with the challenges that G2 presented to them from the very first game.
The biggest surprise may have been the G2 bot, Hans Sama and Mikyx were dominant against LPL stars JackeyLove and Meiko, and the fact that neither game lasted more than half an hour of play best illustrates how specific G2 was in winning today, especially in the second game where they needed only 24 minutes to triumph.
Top tried to aggressively attack the bot lane at the start of the second game, Hans Sama used it to get two kills, and 20 minutes later he ended the game as 12-0-7 Kog'Maw.
And while all G2 players had a great performance, in terms of KDA score, Yike stood out in particular with a 5-1-43 score in three games, playing Ivern once and Rek'Sai twice.
G2 is now waiting for the better one from the Team Liquid - T1 match that will be played tomorrow, which means that if there are no surprises, we will most likely expect a rematch between G2 and T1 in the next round of the lower bracket.
