One of the most talented players in Korea's second league could be in the LCS very soon.
According to a report from Sheep Esports, Park "Thanatos" Seunggyu is on his way to Cloud9. He has spent the past four years playing for the DAMWON/Dplus KIA Academy, with whom he has achieved several impressive successes including two LCK Challengers titles, winning the KeSpa Cup, and last season he was named the league's best top laner.
Several European teams were interested in him, including Karmine Corp, and according to some hints, there was a chance to play in the first Korean league, but Dplus decided at the last moment to give a chance to players with more experience in the new season.
This means that Cloud9 will be leaving Ibraim "Fudge" Allami who spent the previous four years playing for the US team. C9 failed to qualify for MSI 2024 this season, they failed to achieve a top 2 finish in the league, which seemed to be a signal for new changes in the team.
Thanatos has demonstrated in the past that he can play aggressive heroes and that he often doesn't need jungle support to dominate lane, making him a valuable addition to any team that needs stable cannon support.
Recently, Dplus KIA has become a kind of talent nursery, from this organization, players such as Kim "Chasy" Donghyeon and Kim "Mlarang" Geunseong have already played in Europe, it remains to be seen if Thanatos will continue the tradition and justify the expectations of the players brought from LCK academies, of course if the transfer is finalized successfully.
