GEN.G AND JDG IN THE PLAYOFFS, TEAM LIQUID AND BDS ARE OUT

The matches of the third round of the LoL World Championship brought us the first two participants of the quarterfinals, as well as the first teams that said goodbye to the main part of the tournament.

When it comes to 3-0 teams in the championship, there were no surprises. The two main favorites for the title showed why the whole world fears them, and while Gen.G convincingly defeated G2 Esports 2-0, JDG struggled against compatriots LNG Esports.

In the replay of the finals of the summer LPL season, JDG and LNG played another uncertain match in which JDG came out as the winner again in the end. All three games lasted between 26 and 28 minutes, with both teams only confirming their ability to finish games once they have a satisfactory lead.

In the third deciding game, the 369 on Aatrox stood out, which was too much of a problem for LNG in the key teamfights.

Gen.G was completely outplayed by the harmless G2 which didn't have the strength to stand up to its much better rival. With debatable picks in the bot lane, G2 couldn't do enough damage to opposing heroes that Gen.G knew how to take advantage of and routinely score the points necessary to advance to the quarterfinals.

In the fight for survival, Dplus KIA demolished Team BDS in a similar way, which could be expected when the fourth team in Europe runs into a team that has three world champions in its ranks. Dplus KIA had an unfortunate draw at the start of the tournament, but they are still expected to fight for the playoffs until the very end.

GAM Esports defeated Team Liquid who, when all is said and done, may have performed the least in the entire tournament. Despite much more resources on the side of the American team, Liquid was passive and at times clueless in the decisive third game, while the GAM players showed that they care much more about winning.

In 1-1 team matches, T1 recorded their 15th straight win against Cloud9, NRG took advantage of a favorable draw to defeat MAD Lions and cruise to a playoff win, Bilibili Gaming beat Fnatic, and KT Rolster got the better of Weibo Gaming.

After a short break, the fight of the remaining participants continues. The fourth round will bring three new playoff participants, while three more teams will go home.
