After two weeks of the group stage of the LEC spring championship, the current champion G2 Esports and their biggest rival Fnatic stand out at the top of the table, with only one defeat in the six rounds played so far.
By winning the head-to-head match against G2, Fnatic fought for a share of first place, and most importantly, a favorable position over G2 if the teams maintain an identical performance until the end of the group stage.
Fnatic was convincing in the big derby that took place in the fifth round, and although they dominated the game throughout, it took half an hour of play for them to put an end to the match, playing with maximum caution against the new hero Smolder, who according to many is too strong in the current edition. Even with 16,000 gold, Fnatic had to watch what they were doing, but they were patient and in the end celebrated with a convincing 26-6 score in kills.
Fnatic had another tough matchup last week, they defeated Vitality in the sixth round, who were also claiming the top position and who are just below the leaders with less wins, as well as Team Heretics who were the only ones who managed to defeat Fnatic so far league.
In the middle of the table are SK Gaming and Team BDS with a half-performance after six rounds, and the finalist of the winter season MAD Lions is in an unenviable situation and will have to fight for survival and passage to the second stage, because with a score of 2-4 they only have one more win from "lanterns" GIANTX and Rogue.
SK, Rogue and Vitality await G2 in the final week, while Fnatic will play against BDS, SK and MAD Lions. Both teams face similar challenges, which is why nuances will probably decide until the very end who will advance to the next stage of the competition as the first-placed team.
