Vitality claimed their first trophy of the year with a 3-1 victory against Na'Vi in the IEM Cologne 2024 Grand Final.
The battle between two of the best teams in the tournament brought plenty of excitement and good plays, and the first three maps were particularly exciting, including a memorable clash on Mirage, a map whose outcome had multiple implications for both teams.
At the start of the finals, we saw Nuke, the pick of Na'Vi, where Na'Vi managed to come back from a 4-10 deficit and win overtime, but Vitality was a shade better, winning key battles for a 16-14 victory.
It continued to be fierce on Dust2 where Na'Vi managed to take a 7-5 halftime lead and then held on for a 13-10 victory on the opponent's pick.
And then came the map that marked the grand finale - Mirage. Na'Vi tied for 12 wins on this map, Vitality nine, both teams knew that whoever triumphed here was most likely to take the title. Because of this, both teams spared no effort, Vitality took an early lead, but Na'Vi reversed and had two map points that they did not use.
It resulted in as many as three overtimes, and Zvezda CS Esporta ZywOo then played a key role in his team and did better than his rival, as the young w0nderful missed several key shots that would have potentially made the difference in the final outcome. This is how Vitality wins 22-20 and is on the verge of a huge success.
The outcome of the third map seems to have had a significant impact on Na'Vi, who failed miserably on Inferna. Vitality led 10-2 on the T side, in the continuation they increased the advantage with a pistol round, Na'Vi tie six rounds and announce a reversal, but Vitality manages to prevent them from doing so and with 13-9 they put an end to the grandiose final which showed that top CS2 esports awaits us in the second part of the year as well.
The title was especially enjoyed by the captain of the apex team, who had lost three finals in Cologne and who had been waiting for the title for ten years, and ZywOo finished the match with around 100 frags, 90.2 damage per round and 1.29 rating, and most importantly, a new big MVP title. his 21st in an eventful career.
