Today, two teams from the CIS region will fight for the title and the main prize of $150,000 in the grand final of this year's edition of the Roobet Cup.
Virtus.pro and Monte played excellently in the group stage of the tournament and took the first places in groups B and D, then they won 2-0 in the quarter-final duels, and in the end, with great games, they managed to fight for the ultimate clash in the final match.
Monte managed to recover from a 0-1 deficit and defeat on his own pick in the first game. They squandered a 5-0 lead on Anubis and allowed Aurora to go on a 9-2 run in the second half for a 13-10 victory, setting up a potentially huge upset.
Aurora's victory seemed close after conceding just five rounds to the opposition while playing the T side of Nuka, but down the stretch Monte showed incredible aggression and took eight of nine rounds for a 13-8 triumph and tie.
Ancient decided the winner, and Monte managed to win 13-10 with another excellent game on the T side and a well-deserved place in the final.
We saw a similar outcome of the match in the second semi-final. Virtus.pro lost the first map, but in the sequel they managed to turn the score around and win. We saw that another exciting match was ahead of us already on the first map where both teams won 7-5 in one half, which is why we watched the extra time that FURIA won 16-13.
VP returned to Inferna where, as in the decisive third map, they took an 8-4 lead on the T side. On Inferno, FURIA put up a better resistance and reached a double-digit number of rounds, while on the Ancient map, the Brazilian team was stopped after only seven rounds won.
