Reigning world champion T1 defeated G2 Esports in the derby of the fourth round of the LoL World Championship 2024 main stage and advanced to the playoff stage of the competition with a 3-1 aggregate score.

Although T1 came away with a smooth 2-0 victory, the match was full of fierce fighting in the second game in which G2 managed to recover after an initially weak start, only to succumb in the end despite three downed opponents' inhibitors.

T1 opened the match with a convincing victory in the first game, in which they showed a better macro, and Zeus stood out as the player of the game with Gragas on top, one of the heroes with whom he achieved the most success in his career. From soloing Hans Sama, to tanking five opposing mids in the late game, Zeus was omnipotent and G2 simply couldn't do anything against a much better opponent.

T1 opened the second game by hunting G2 in solo lanes, but G2 responded down the stretch by finding some great teamfights where heroes like Gnar and Orianna could shine. G2 began to dangerously encroach on the opponent's base, and Oner with a heroic play managed to steal Baron at a crucial moment, thus heralding the epic defense of the base that followed.

After defending, T1 went on the offensive again, they take Elder Dragon and destroy nexus G2 with violent attacks for the legendary Faker's 100th victory at the world championships, which makes him the absolute record holder, with 40 more victories than the closest follower.

We now have five of the eight quarter-finalists, three LCK teams - Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports and T1 and two teams from China Top Esports and LNG Esports. Today, Weibo Gaming and Fnatic, i.e. Team Liquid and GAM Esports meet in the fight for survival in the matches of 1-2 teams.">Reigning world champion T1 defeated G2 Esports in the derby of the fourth round of the LoL World Championship 2024 main stage and advanced to the playoff stage of the competition with a 3-1 aggregate score.
