American CS veteran Jake "Stewie2K" Yip confirmed today that he will play as a change for G2 Esports during the IEM Dallas 2024 tournament.
G2 captain Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen will miss the competition in America to attend his sister's wedding, the Danish player announced. The former Major champion Stewie2K, who spent the past month as a substitute in the Legacy team, will play in his place.
Stewie2K has been competing on the NA scene since 2015, and has built his career with Splyce, Cloud9, SK Gaming, Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses. In July 2022, he stopped competing and turned to streaming, only to return to gaming last month, first for Legacy and now for G2, hinting that he may be ready to return to a team permanently.
IEM Dallas 2024 runs from May 27 to June 2. A total of 16 teams will compete for a prize pool of $250,000 and a direct entry to IEM Cologne 2024.
G2 will play in group A, where their opponent in the first round will be the Falcons team, and if they win, they will meet the better team from the match Team Vitality - Monte. The rest of Group A consists of MOUZ, Team Liquid, Complexity and 9z Team.
