Movistar Riders infamously went down in CS2 esports history as the first team to go 0-13 in official (open) competition. They were defeated by Team Spirit in the winning barrage of the European qualifiers for ESL Challenger Jonkoping 2023 without losing a round on the Overpass map.
At the end of November, a tournament with a prize fund of 100,000 dollars will be held in Sweden, and in addition to the already qualified teams Monte, GamerLegion, Virtus.pro and Eternal Fire, four teams from the regional qualifiers will also participate in it.
Movistar Riders have shown a good game in the European qualifiers so far, where they managed to beat Apex 2-1 in the second round, which is why no one could have expected that they would experience such a heavy defeat against the Russian team.
What's particularly interesting is that they suffered a 0-13 loss at their peak, as Spirit had previously picked Anubis on which they triumphed 13-6. The Spirit then scored seven runs in a row after an even first half, which technically means they tied 20 runs in the match for a convincing victory.
As is often the case with dominant wins on the Overpass map, the Spirit started on the CT side, and after a perfect first half, all they needed was a win in the pistol round to go 13-0.
Movistar Riders will certainly have the opportunity to take revenge for the defeat, because today they have a match in the final of the loser's bracket against the French team Looking4Org, and if they win, they will play a decisive match for the slot in Sweden against Spirit.
Let's remind, previously the MIBR fe team defeated the Kidisgrac team 13-0 in the ESL Impact League, but since it is a closed competition for exclusively female teams, we cannot count it as technically the first perfect map in CS2 esports.
