The first round of the American qualifiers for the PGL Copenhagen Major passed without major surprises, except for the defeat of MiBR. Team Liquid managed to take a narrow 13-11 victory against the BESTIA team, while some of the other favorites such as Complexity and Imperial won convincingly against the underdogs.
A total of 16 teams from South and North America are fighting for the remaining five slots at the first CS2 Major. Unlike the European teams, they will play only four rounds, and teams with a 3-0 and 3-1 performance will advance to the Major.
At the start of the tournament, FURIA defeated Nouns 13-9, thanks to an excellent first half in which they took a 10-2 lead on the CT side. Nouns managed to get closer in the continuation, but they could not make a complete turnaround.
Complexity was convincing against Elevate, who they defeated 13-6 on the Ancient map, and M80 outplayed Brazil's ODDIK 13-10 on the same map.
BOSS managed to surprise MiBR with a 13-9 victory on Ancient, and the series of convincing victories was opened by paiN Gaming against Legacy, who they defeated 13-4 on Overpass.
