Today, Valve released a major update for Counter-Strike 2, which we will see in action already in the playoff finals of the IEM Katowice 2024 tournament.
From changes in the mechanics of the game itself, which is the most important for the canter esports segment, to visual improvements, Valve has changed a lot in the latest version of CS2.
The most important change is the reduction of the so-called "peeker's advantage", i.e. the advantage of a player who sees the opponent even before the opponent sees him. In addition, there were changes to smoke bombs, as well as several changes from sub-tick shooting, to player collisions and moving around the map.
At the same time, a lot of things have been fixed on all tournament maps, and you can find all the details at the link in the post below.
What is most important for fans of electronic sports is that ESL, in consultation with the teams, decided that the latest update will be used in the playoffs of the first major CS2 tournament of the new year - IEM Katowice 2024.
ESL and the teams performed speed tests of the changes and compared the data, after which the decision was made. According to unofficial information, five of the six teams voted to play with the new update, and it remains to be seen how it will affect the outcome of the playoffs, primarily on the main favorites Team Spirit, which no one could stop during the group stage.
