G2 Esports will have the opportunity to defend the title won last year at the Spodek Arena, after defeating Heroic 2-0 in the deciding match to move on.
The match between G2 and Heroic opened on Vertigo, the map chosen by the Danish team. They managed to take a 4-0 lead, but Nikola "NiKo" Kovach and Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov were terrific down the stretch to lead G2 to a tie at halftime, going on a 6-0 run along the way before Heroic responded with two runs.
Again, Heroic took the pistol round, but G2 completely took control of the match going forward and they soon took the first map point at 12-8. Heroic manages to reduce the score to 12-9, and a bigger turnaround is prevented by the Kovač brothers, who turn a 3-on-5 situation into a 13-9 victory for their team.
Heroic continued to get pistol rounds on Nuke, and they were able to turn their first round lead into a 5-0 score before G2 finally responded and took the first round on the map. From that point on G2 completely dominates and now they are making a 7-0 run for a big 7-5 at half time on the T side of the Nuke map.
Heroic also got a fourth pistol round, but that didn't help them either. G2 respond two rounds later and in the eco round they get a big win, they take the lead again. In the continuation, G2 kept the match under control and they come to a 13-8 victory to qualify for the quarterfinals where FaZe Clan will be waiting for them.
