IEM Katowice: ENCE defeats G2 in the battle for the playoffs

After Vitality, ENCE also managed to defeat G2 Esports and advance to the final playoff where they will play in front of the home crowd.

A group of four Polish players and the legendary Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander leading the team from the captain's position continue to perform beyond expectations at IEM Katowice 2024.

When they defeated Astralis in the play-in stage, everyone thought that it was just one good match and that they would not be able to repeat that level of play, but instead ENCE opens the tournament with a win against the highest ranked team on the planet Vitality and shows everyone that they are on came to the competition with great ambitions even though it was a new team.

They took advantage of the extremely poor form of G2 Esports who have not been playing anywhere near as well as they are expected to for a long time, registering a convincing 2-0 win in the second round.

ENCE took a 13-8 lead with a win on their Mirage pick where they took an 8-4 lead on the T side and then held the lead down the stretch. On Anubis, G2 managed to earn a draw playing a generally harder to play CT side, but then a cold shower followed for their fans and a disastrous second half in which they only took one round in a 7-13 loss.

The Kovač brothers again had an extremely poor performance, especially Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač, who achieved only 14 frags, 51.4 damage per round and 0.66 rating for the entire match. Nemanja "nexa" Isaković was the only player in G2 who had a positive performance in the frags with a score of 29-28, and G2 as a whole again played completely unmotivated, which was also reflected on the faces of the players.

G2 will have to overcome the next two obstacles if they want to make the playoffs. First, they will face a match against the Ukrainian team Monte, and then a duel with the better team from the match GamerLEgion - Heroic.
