The first day of the EU RMR A group of qualifiers for the PGL Copenhagen Major was marked by a convincing game of the favorites, and G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro found themselves in a 2-0 barrage. Among the surprises, the new bad result of Ninjas in Pajamas, who are fighting for survival from today, stood out.
G2 opened the tournament with the most convincing win in the first round, against perhaps the weakest team in the tournament from everything we've seen so far - Into The Breach, which they defeated 13-3 on Anubis.
In the most uncertain match of the first round, Eternal Fire defeated Ninjas in Pajamas 13-11, after a lot of mistakes from both sides. The Polish ENTERPRISE also made a slight surprise against AMKAL ESPORTS, and the match was marked by an incident that happened after the game, when the Polish players hurled insults at the opponents from Russia in the live broadcast.
FaZe and Virtus.Pro got off easily with 9Pandas and SAW winning by identical 13-6 scores, while Na'Vi struggled against KOI in the first half where we saw an even score on the Ancient map, but they still came through to convincing 13-8.
Fnatic was excellent against BetBoom who they defeated 13-6, while Falcons defeated 3DMAX 13-8.
In the second round, we saw two matches that went into extra time, and they were also the most exciting matches of the day. G2 and EF took seven rounds each on the CT side of Nuka, but G2 was better in the rest and took a 16-13 victory. Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov was again the main player of his team with a 36-13 score, 111.7 damage per round and 1.86 rating, and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovac had a good game with 26 frags, 93.9 ADR and 1.44 rating.
The remaining favorites came away with easy wins, FaZe defeated Falcons 13-7, Na'Vi ENTERPRISE 13-6, while Virtus.pro trounced Fnatic 13-3.
We saw the most convincing victories in the battle of 0-1 teams where 9Pandas and BetBoom defeated SAW, i.e. ITB, 13-1. KOI defeated 3DMAX 13-8, while AMKAL and NiP played as many as four overtimes on the Overpass map, in the end the Russian team won 22-20.
In the third round matches, G2 and FaZe will play in a replay of the IEM Katowice 2024 quarter-finals for 3-0 and passage to the Major, while the second pair of 2-0 teams make up the big CIS derby Na'Vi - Virtus.pro.
In the fight for survival, Ninjas in Pajamas will play against SAW, and 3DMAX will try to ensure survival in the tournament against Into The Breach.
Among the 1-1 teams, the clash between Eternal Fire and Falcons stands out as a derby. KOI will welcome 9Pandas, BetBoom goes to ENTERPRISE, and Fnatic will have a chance to avenge NiP against Team AMKAL.
