PGL today revealed the pairings of the first round of the EU RMR qualifiers for the PGL Copenhagen Major, with G2 Esports starting the competition against Into the Breach.
From February 14th to 17th, the top 16 European teams will fight for the chance to play in the first CS2 Major tournament. According to the old tried-and-tested system, the teams will play the Swiss system in which they advance with three wins and fall out with three losses. The matches of the first two rounds and the duels of 1-1 teams will be played on only one map, while the matches for survival and passage will be Bo3, as in the previous editions of the RMR tournament and the Major.
Eight teams will advance to the Major, while 2-3 teams, i.e. teams that take 9th to 11th place, will go to the play-off for the final 17th EU slot.
G2 Esports will start their campaign against the world's 45th team Into the Breach, who, thanks to a top 8 finish at the last Major, avoided playing the EU RMR closed qualifiers and automatically qualified for the EU RMR.
Since they have been playing in the current five, they have not had official matches against the strongest teams in the world, so it is extremely difficult to assess what kind of challenge they could actually be to G2.
