The match between the teams G2 and Heroic ended the group stage of IEM Katowice 2024, after which it was clear what the playoff pairs would look like, including the big derby between G2 and FaZe in the quarterfinals.
Despite coming into the tournament as one of the main favorites, FaZe lost to the now unstoppable Team Spirit in the battle for the top spot in Group A, which is why they failed to advance directly to the semi-finals.
They will now have a difficult task to beat G2, who played much better today than the previous day and defeated Heroic in the decisive match to advance, which we wrote about in more detail in this article.
The winner of this match will go to MOUZ in the semifinals, who demolished ENCE 2-0 (13-5 Vertigo, 13-3 Ancient) to top Group B.
In the second part of the barrage, ENCE and Falcons meet in the quarterfinals. The former ENCE trio will have the opportunity to play against their former organization, which will have huge support from the home crowd and will be an extremely big challenge for Team Falcons.
The winner of this duel in the semi-finals awaits Team Spirit, the team that has shown the best in the tournament so far and enters the playoffs as the favorite for the title if they continue to play at this pace.
The quarterfinals will be played on Friday, February 9. ENCE and Falcons will play from 16:30, and FaZe and G2 from 19:30. While the semi-final matches are played a day later.
