ESL has revealed that Chengdu will be the host city for this year's edition of the IEM China competition, as well as which teams have received direct invitations to participate.
A total of 16 teams will compete for a prize pool of $250,000 and a direct berth to IEM Cologne 2024 from April 8-14. Chengdu, which is the capital of the Chinese province of Sichuan, is famous in esports for its former Overwatch team Chengdu Hunters, who played their home matches right from the arena where IEM Chengdu will be held, which holds a total of 12,000 spectators.
The tournament will be attended by ESL partner teams - G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, Heroic, Astralis, FURIA and MOUZ, as well as the best-ranked teams in the ESL rankings (not including partner teams) - Complexity, Cloud9, Virtus.pro and Monte.
The remaining six slots will be distributed to the winners of the regional qualifiers, of which only the Chinese qualifiers, in which Lynn Vision Gaming triumphed, have been completed so far.
