Team Liquid will miss the first CS2 Major, after being defeated 2-1 by Complexity in the deciding match to qualify for the PGL Copenhagen Major.
Although they came to NA RMR as the main favorite, Team Liquid experienced a complete debacle and with an overall score of 2-2, they said goodbye to the Major in Denmark. When Liquid brought in Russell "Twistzz" Van Dulken and Casper "cadiaN" Moller, the world public assumed that a new super team was in front of us that would fight for titles on the international stage.
Instead we saw Liquid stumble frequently in various NA qualifiers, but nothing compared to missing the Major. Liquid started NA RMR with a win, but then lost 11-13 against Team FURIA, and a win in the third round guaranteed them a shot at the Major.
Complexity complicated things by losing to Imperial in a 2-0 team fight, which meant we were going to see a big Liquid - Complexity derby in the final round.
Team Liquid managed to take a 13-9 lead with a win on Inferno where they played a great T side in the first half of the game which gave them an 8-4 lead that they knew how to hold on to.
Anubis brought a lot of turnovers, Complexity took a 3-0 lead thanks to the pistol round, which they took all six times during the match, but then Liquid managed to tie five rounds, only for Complexity to fight back and take a 7-5 lead on half time. Complexity then ran over Liquid with a 6-0 run on the T side for a final 13-5 and even score on aggregate.
Complexity opened up a decisive Overpass on the CT side, which they were able to take advantage of and take a 6-0 lead before Liquid could get to the round. Liquid somehow manages to tie it up by the end of the first half and cut the deficit to four rounds, but Complexity continues to play well on the T side and eight rounds later they cruise to a 13-7 win for a huge celebration and a spot at the Major.
