CCT: G2 AFTER A LOT OF STRUGGLE OVERCOME SPROUT

G2 managed to advance to the third round of the CCT 5 tournament's winner's barrage, after an extremely difficult match against the Sprout team that outclassed them on the first map, and then G2 managed to recover twice after overtime.

Today's match showed us that G2 made a great decision to play the CCT 5 tournament because they need practice in their new lineup. They are still struggling to fit in, but that is normal for a team that, like many others, is currently going through big changes.

They have only ten days left to prepare for the BLAST Global World Finals where they will defend their title, and although there will only be eight teams in the tournament, the competition will be extremely strong.

G2 suffered a heavy 3-13 loss on their Mirage pick at the start of the match. The map was marked by a record low performance from captain Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen who failed to make a single frag for the entire map, posting a 0-14 score, 14.3 damage per round and a 0.10 rating.

Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov also had an extremely bad map, 3-15 score in frags and 0.35 rating.

Then we got to see G2 for the first time on the Overpass map, which they released because they decided to ban Vertigo in the first round. G2 opened the map with flying colors and took 11 of 12 rounds in the first half on the CT side, but Sprout responded in kind and took overtime with G2 winning 16-13.

We saw the same result on the decisive map Anubis, although this time the halves were much more even. Sprout took a 7-5 lead, but G2 was much better down the stretch and they were the first to reach match point, but in the last round of the regular part of the map, they lose a 5v3 situation and allow their opponents to win overtime again where G2 finally managed to put match point.

In the next match, G2 will play against the winner of the SAW - Aurora duel, while Sprout will fight for survival with Zero Tenacity.
