Astralis and MOUZ in the semi-finals, G2 against Virtus at the start of the playoffs

The match between G2 and Heroic ended the group stage of IEM Chengdu 2024, and with the win, G2 scheduled a rematch from the Major against the Virtus.pro team. Direct qualification to the semi-finals was secured by Astralis and MOUZ, who triumphed in the matches for first place in groups A and B.

MOUZ successfully recovered from the failure at the Major and with another victory secured a top 4 finish at IEM Chengdu 2024. They defeated Team Liquid on two maps, and the most uncertain was Inferno where MOUZ won only in the last round of the regular part of the map. At their peak the Mirage were much more specific, taking a 9-3 lead on the T side and then holding on to a 13-4 victory.

In group B, the reborn Astralis continued with good games, and in the battle for the semi-finals, they outplayed Virtus.pro. Astralis was more dominant on both maps, they built a big advantage in the first half and then routinely finished the maps. At Overpass the score was 13-6, and at Vertigo we saw an exceptional edition of the Danes on the T side where they took a 10-2 lead, so that the final score was 13-7.

The former Heroic duo of Jakob "jabbi" Nygard and Martin "stavn" Lund had a great performance, finishing the match with 1.61 and 1.55 ratings.

And while the aforementioned teams were fighting for one more day of rest and one match less in the playoffs, the remaining teams were playing for survival in the tournament and filling the playoffs.

In Group A, G2 Esports recorded their third straight win against Heroic. G2 managed to end their losing streak on the Ancient map where they won 13-10, while on Nuke they only won after overtime 16-13.

FaZe Clan was convincing against the most pleasant surprise of the tournament, the FlyQuest team. They outclassed them 13-4 on the Ancient map, while the Aussie team managed to put up a solid fight against Nuke where they took ten rounds.

G2 Esports will play for a place in the semi-finals against Virtus, in a replay of the match of the fifth round of the PGL Copenhagen Major that caused stormy reactions after the disconnection of one of the players of the Russian team in the crucial round of the second map, and the winner of that match goes to MOUZ in the semi-finals, which means that G2 could soon play the rematch of the quarterfinals of the Major.

In the second part of the draw, FaZe Clan and Team Liquid meet, while Astralis is waiting for the better of this duel.
