Heroic issued an official announcement tonight that current team coach Richard "Xizt" Landstrom will be leaving the Danish organization after the BLAST Global Final 2023 tournament.
Xizt joined Heroic right after the end of his rich playing career, first as an analyst, and then at the end of 2021, he moved to the position of coach, and after a successful trial, he has been the team's head coach since March last year.
Although Xizt signed a new two-year contract with the organization at the beginning of the year, as stated in the official statement, both parties concluded that it is best to end the cooperation and that everyone continue on their own path.
He managed to achieve excellent results with the Heroic team at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year. Heroic tied two BLAST titles, Fall 2022 and Spring 2023, took second place at the Rio Major, and achieved top 4 finishes in Paris and Stockholm. They also played the final of the IEM Katowice tournament at the beginning of the year.
Despite the great successes, since October, the team is now down to only two permanent players, after Casper "cadiaN" Moller was kicked out of the team, while Martin "stavn" Lund and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard moved to the ranks of bitter rival Astralis. .
Heroic will have an extremely difficult task to recover from the blows they suffered in the last quarter of 2023, and for now there is no information on who the new coach of the team could be, nor who will join the team after BLAST.
