Topson Returns to OG as Organization Unveils New Dota 2 Roster

OG has officially unveiled its new Dota 2 roster for the 2026/27 season, with the biggest headline being the return of Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen. The two-time The International champion will once again wear the jersey of the organization with which he won back-to-back TI titles in 2018 and 2019.

Topson returns to OG nearly five years after his last appearance for the organization. Although he had previously stepped away from professional Dota 2, the Finnish midlaner made an unexpected competitive comeback at this year’s The International, where he joined LGD Gaming as a stand-in. He stepped in at the last minute after their midlaner TaiLung was suspended over competitive integrity issues. Topson and LGD made it through the group stage, but were eliminated by Team Yandex in the elimination round, finishing TI 2026 in 9th-13th place.

That brief return appears to have convinced Topson to continue competing at the highest level, and he will now begin a new chapter of his career with OG.

Alongside Topson, OG have added two more players. Valery “SSS” Lazarev will take over the offlane position, joining the team on loan from PARIVISION, while Ivan “OneJey” Zhivtsky will fill the position four support role.

Only two players remain from OG’s previous lineup: John Anthony “Natsumi” Vargas at carry and Rolen Andrei “skem” Ong as the position five support. The organization began reshaping the roster in September, parting ways with Yopaj, Raven and TIMS, while coach 343 also departed following the team’s unsuccessful run at TI 2026. OG finished the tournament in 14th-15th place after being eliminated by GamerLegion in the fifth round of the group stage.

Igor “kaffs” Estevão has been appointed as the team’s new coach. The Brazilian coach has previously worked with South American organizations such as HEROIC and LGD Gaming, and will now oversee OG’s new international lineup.

The new OG roster will make its debut very soon. The team is set to compete at BLAST Slam VIII, which begins on September 29 and runs until October 11, with the final stage taking place on LAN in Malta.
