The VCS League is going through an unprecedented crisis when it comes to esports. As many as 32 league participants, including players and coaches, have been suspended, while the league itself has been suspended until further notice, due to potential match-fixing.
Namely, on March 18, the leaders of the league stopped the further course of the competition, and after the initial investigation, a total of 32 people were suspended. The Rainbow Warriors team "suffered" the most with a total of eight suspended members, including the head coach and team manager, and among the organizations that found themselves in the midst of the scandal is the most famous team in the region, GAM Esports, as well as the popular organization Team Secret.
In addition to them, members of Team Flash, Vikings Esports, Cerebrus Esports, MGN Blue Esports and Team Whales were also suspended.
The suspensions will last until the investigation is fully completed, meaning that Vietnam will potentially be left without a slot at MSI 2024, unless the current season's playoffs take place.
The list includes players we have seen in international competitions such as the World Cup and MSI, and if the suspended team members are proven guilty, the question is how and when VCS will recover from such a heavy blow, as well as what would happen to their participation in international tournaments, if the integrity of the league would collapse in this way.
