Germany's LoL champion Eintracht Spandau defeated Turkey's Besiktas Esports 3-1 in the final of the 2024 Spring EMEA Masters and brought great joy to Prime League fans.
For the first time since 2019, Germany is on the EU/EMEA Masters throne, since BIG won the title in the summer season. Germany.
They didn't come to the EMEA Masters as one of the favorites, a role that in the previous period mostly went to the French and Turkish teams, but in the end they showed that they really are the strongest team from the regional leagues.
They passed the group stage with a score of 5-1, taking the first place in Group D, and already in the quarter-finals, a big challenge awaited them in the form of the Arab team Nigma Galaxy. Against them, they registered the first of three 3-1 wins in the playoffs, and then they outplayed Geekay Esports.
In the final, they were met by Besiktas, a famous name in Turkish sports who are currently the vice-champion of Turkey in LoL. Besiktas reached the final by defeating the LEC academy team BDS after a major upset, and were expected to give ES a serious toll.
The team led by former LEC veteran Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage did drop one game, but in the remaining three they won convincingly in 26, 28 and 26 minutes.
With this victory, Nikolay "Zanzarah" Akatov made history as the first player to win the competition with two different teams, and he was one of the key players in his team's victories.
With this win, Eintracht Spandau capped off a great start to the year in a truly brilliant way as they gather ever-increasing numbers of fans, and it looks as though great days are ahead for the German Premier League as the competition continues to grow in popularity.
