Perfect World has confirmed the pairings for the first round of the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
A total of 16 teams will compete in the first stage of the CS2 Shanghai Major from November 30 to advance to the main stage of the tournament. We will see the Swiss system in five rounds, as in the previous Majors, a system in which teams with three wins advance, and with three losses they are eliminated. All matches up to the promotion and relegation matches will continue to be played in the Bo1 format and the Buchcolz system will be used to match the opponents.
As a reminder, eight European teams went directly to the main stage of the competition - Na'Vi, G2, FaZe, Vitality, MOUZ, Spirit, Heroic and 3DMAX, which is why most of the first stage consists of teams from America, with six teams from Europe and three from Asia and Oceania.
In the derby of the first round, at least by the sound of the names, we will see Team Liquid and Cloud9, although C9 with its new team enters as an absolute outsider, and it is interesting that BIG and Passion UA will meet again, who played first in the qualifiers for EU RMR, and then and EU RMR itself, creating a new rivalry on the CS2 scene.
It is interesting that the first round also brought us a clash between the only two Asian teams, The MongolZ and Rare Atom, as well as a new Brazilian derby between teams paiN and Imperial.
